About MAX Graphics PDF Print E-mail
MAX Graphics started out as the name of graphical user interface (GUI) software for use with BBS software back in 1995. By the time 1999 had rolled around, the usefulness and profitability of running a BBS had completely dried up due to the increasing popularity of the Internet and World Wide Web. So, the source code to the MAX Graphics GUI software was sold off in December of 1999 to a South Dakota based telephone equipment maker, and the MAX Graphics BBS was officially shut down.

By the time the year 2000 rolled around and all the computers in the world didn't die from the "Y2K Bug" after all, the name MAX Graphics was given to a new web site and graphics design business. Our business plan has been the same since day one, and it's still the same to this day...Keep our operating expenses and our prices both as low as possible...We achieve this by not renting office space in a commercial office complex, or paying for toll-free telephone numbers, or paying for TV/radio/newspaper ads, or paying for any organizational membership dues. Simply put, we don't spend money "posing for the camera". Therefore, we can provide our services for half the price that other companies charge. In most cases, our prices are actually less than half the price that others charge.

In 2005, we added a new facet to our product and service line by custom building computers that run exclusively on the Linux operating system. Due to the never ending security problems and increasing costs associated with Microsoft Windows, we officially made the switch to non-Windows platforms such as Linux and Macintosh. We were so pleased with our ability to break our dependency on Microsoft products all together, we decided that offering custom built computers running Linux and migration of existing customer computers to the Linux operating system would be a great addition to our product and service line. Thus far, we have had great success with the program, a zero return rate on systems and no reports of anybody switching back to Windows. Numerous customers have actually taken the next step and upgraded from Linux to Macintosh systems after seeing that the computer world really doesn't revolve around Microsoft after all. This is what we call "a true success story"!

As for the name of the company, there actually is not (and never has been) anybody by the name of "MAX" associated with this company. The "MAX" part of the company name is actually derived from old 1980's slang where people often used the phrase "to the max" whenever they were talking about doing anything to the extreme. For example, the name of an old band that the owner of this company played guitar/keyboards for back in the 1980's was called "THE MAX" (aka: Rock & Roll To The Max). The name "Graphics To The Max" just didn't sound right, but "MAX Graphics" conveyed the same message, so that's the name we went with.

MAX Graphics is strictly a one-owner DBA operated by Larry L Athey with one sales rep and two graphics/web designers. Larry has been programming since the hey-day of the Apple II personal computer back in 1978, which translates to 30 years of computer and programming experience! Most of our competitors can't even make that claim without combining the experience of all their programmers together! The company is 100% debt free and business continues to grow every week. Sometimes the small business model just works better than being incorporated, it certainly does in this case.

We're proud to say that while all of our competitors continue to spend money on "posing for the camera" and "trying to make a public impression", we're busy making sales and helping customers save money!
