Questions about MAX Graphics and this web site:

Q: Is this the same MAX Graphics company that came up with that BBS GUI software back in 1995?
A: Yes, but Larry Athey sold off the source code to that software back at the end of 1999 and is no longer involved with the BBS world (what little there is left of it today). This company does not provide support for any of those programs, nor do we provide any downloadable versions of those programs. You may still be able to find them on http://archives.thebbs.org or on many shareware CD-ROM discs (Night Owl, Cream of the Crop, etc) released in the mid to late 1990's.

Q: Was there ever a "Max Miller" from Scottsbluff, NE associated with this company?
A: Max who? No, not this company...However, we do know of another now defunct web related business that had a similar name to ours and they had someone claiming to work for them by that name. This company was started back in 1995 and was named after an old band from Alliance, NE that the owner was in which was called "THE MAX", our company name has never had anything to do with anyone by the name of "Max".

Q: Where is the shopping cart? How do I place an order here?
A: This is only an informational web site, the information here is strictly for reference and pre-sales purposes. The sale of any of our products/services requires human intervention, so a shopping cart on this site wouldn't begin to do anybody any good. Please call our sales department at 720-274-0938 or request a call from one our sales reps by sending us a message from our Contact Us page if you are interested in making a purchase.

Q: If you're based in western Nebraska, why do you have a Colorado phone number?
A: That's because we use internet telephone service from SIPphone, Inc. At the time that we established service with their company, they only offered phone numbers with area codes in select time zones and Colorado was the closest one to us. The majority of our business is non-local, so the fact that we have a phone number that is a long distance call to our local area doesn't affect us or our customers. Local callers can call the mobile number listed on our Contact Us page or send us a message requesting a call back.

Q: Why is there so much text and so few pictures on this web site?
A: Aside from our custom built computer systems, we don't sell any physical merchandise that we can photograph. We have to rely on text because there is no way to take a picture of things like hosting packages, labor, etc. Another reason is because in previous incarnations of our web site, we apparently didn't explain product details well enough and we ended up having to answer the same questions on a regular basis. So, while too much text is overwhelming for some people, too little text leaves too many other people confused and wondering. It only makes sense to provide an abundance of information for those who want it, and people who don't want all that information can just skip over it.

Q: I'm not so sure I understand, is this site geared for techies or average customers?
A: It's actually geared for anybody seeking information about our company and our products/services, no matter what their level of technical expertise is. We try to cater to all audiences and we try our hardest to keep the technical jargon to a minimum. However, some things related to our business simply can't be explained without going into technical details. Please contact us if you need any additional clarification on anything you find on this site that you don't fully understand.

Q: What kind of servers do you run? How reliable are they?
A: We actually rent enterprise class servers and shared server space from GoDaddy.com because they have a network administration team that works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including all holidays. Trying to do the work we do and do the job of a full time network administration team just isn't realistic. So we downsized and upscaled at the same time by eliminating our own servers and switching to GoDaddy servers. We are very happy to say that GoDaddy offers the most reliable server network that we have ever had the pleasure of working with!

Q: Are you a member of your local chamber of commerce?
A: Sorry, but the answer to that would be no. We have all worked for various businesses in the past that were chamber members and we all share the exact same opinion of chamber membership. The membership dues are nothing but an operating expense that you get to write off at the end of the year and that's the only benefit that you receive from it. If you see our "About Us" page, you'll see that we don't spend money "posing for the camera" and that's about all you ever do as a chamber member. The benefits of not being a member far outweigh the benefits of actually being a member.

Q: Are you a full-time or part-time business?
A: We are intentionally a part-time business, for good reason. We are aware of a local competitor that boasts that it is the only full-time web site design/hosting business in our area (which is actually untrue, there are other full-time businesses in the area that provide the exact same services and more than they do). We are only a part-time business due to the fact that this is one of the primary ways that we keep our prices lower than everybody else. If we were to do this full-time, we would have to charge more in order to pay for our personal living expenses. All of us at MAX Graphics work full-time jobs elsewhere and do this after-hours, and we still manage to get things done "on time and on the dime".
